Yesterday afternoon, in Beijing’s 1949 Jing A Taproom, a group of 100 caring people from the business and NGO community gathered to witness the premier of the music video “Love Is Blind, Look With Your Heart”. The event was hosted charismatically and impressively by nine year old Tracy Fen, who attends the Beijing School for the Blind.Image may be NSFW.

The music video, which will be released on October 15th 2014 for International White Cane Safety Day was recorded entirely by children who are blind and visually impaired, and created by artists from all over the world.
The music video is the start of a series of events to promote the abilities of blind children, calling for the public to believe in their talents and skills to support them in experiencing an equal and full life.Image may be NSFW.

Key note speaker Dina Yang, a representative of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation China Office shared: “We fully support the “Love is Blind, Look With Your Heart” campaign because we at the Gates Foundation believe all lives have equal value. We are pleased to see a positive step forward in campaigning and this is why we will be sharing the video on our social media platforms on October 15th 2014.”

The China Disabled Persons Federation in 2012 stated China has over 12,500,000 million visually impaired , making up 18% of the world’s total blind population. Bethel China believes with early intervention, education and faith in themselves, blind children can live a normal healthy life and grow up to make significant and positive contributions to society through business, education, art, music and family. The “Love Is Blind, Look With Your Heart” music video was produced thanks to the contribution of time and talent from many artists. Directed and produced by Chinese independent film maker, Jennifer Liao and composed by Chinese Canadian Composer Ewan Mac, who together with a team of dedicated and generous artists from the UK, France, USA, Switzerland and the Netherlands, filmed, edited, produced and released the project.

Starring in this music video are children from Bethel China, an organisation committed to actively promoting and providing education for visually impaired children. Susan Qu, Bethel’s Education Manager shared the secret of Bethel China: “We place them in an environment where they receive equal love, equal treatment and equal opportunities. We allow them to run, swim and ride bikes. We expect them to excel in school and have fulfilling and productive careers. We don’t treat them any differently just because they are different.”

Instead, see children with incredible potential, see children with beautiful hearts and sharp minds. Allow them to teach you how to look with your heart, to see beyond what you have ever seen before.
